Started in 1973, The School KFI is one of six schools of Krishnamurti Foundation India and is committed to the exploration of the educational vision of J Krishnamurti.
The School KFI is a day boarding school of 450 students and staff. The school has classes from LKG to Class 12 and draws students from all over the city of Chennai. The school offers bus facility and buses run along specific routes that are changed every year depending on requirements. School timings are from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm for the whole school. The school has a five-day week for students with special classes for students of Classes 9 to 12 on one Saturday of a month.
The curriculum of the school includes academic learning, conversation, trips, physical activity and games, and art and activities. The School is affiliated to the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations at New Delhi and the students appear for the ICSE and ISC Examination in Classes 10 and 12 respectively.
The school kitchen and dining hall are an essential part of the school. All students and staff eat a simple, balanced breakfast and lunch together at school. In addition, they have a snack and a drink at the end of the day. There is no school uniform. Students are expected to dress appropriately for the school. Parents are required to take care to ensure appropriateness.
