10K Run

On the eve of the postponed run, I was nervous. It was like getting ready for an academic exam and not feeling adequately prepared. But, it wasn't all negative. I felt thrilled as well.

For decades now, the school had held many definitions for me. In a sense that defined life too.

School represents a sense of poise, dignity and energy. I see this personified when our alumni meet us; when parents of passed out students meet us; when I get out of my home each weekday and anticipate my 'work'. Before the run, I appealed because of what school meant to me. But, after hearing anecdotes, I appeal for funds because this school has touched people who have no actual connection with school at all.

Vardah devastated the trees with which we grew up. It was heartbreaking to see the giants who graced our old campus on their sides. But, the wreck only served to demonstrate that the school is not a geographical space, it is the people. Parents, students, some alumni and all our non-teaching and teaching staff mourned the loss and yet came together to restore the teaching space.

School represents fortitude and courage.
